Primary Responsibilities

The primary areas of responsibility for this position are as follows:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing members, ensuring that members fully understand and are taking advantage of Safety Services and educational opportunities
  • Provide support to members by meeting their safety needs
  • Interact with other team members as necessary to help ensure the efficient and effective delivery of ABC services to ABC members
  • Be motivated, punctual, reliable, dependable, and approachable

Specific Responsibilities Including, But Not Limited To

Safety Services

  • Responsible to maintain an in-depth current knowledge of OSHA/DOSH policies, rules and regulations, providing members with knowledge and updates
  • Monitor all current information on regulations and requirements related to workplace safety and health; provide email blasts to notify members of rule changes and updates
  • Provide group and individual company OSHA/DOSH trainings
  • Provide group and individual company First Aid/ CPR training
  • Assist members with OSHA/DOSH inspection; act as Employer Representative when requested
  • Provide members assistance with safety rules and compliance questions
  • Using available template create safety programs and provide members with assistance in customizing and implementing their written safety program
  • Using available materials create “Toolbox Talks” and promote to members
  • Assist Vice President of Member Services with facilitating workshops, training, and seminars that educate members with regard to safety issues
  • Develop and act as Staff Liaison to ABC Safety Committee
  • Create collaborative relationships with the safety community attending meetings as ABC IPC’s safety representative
  • Assist members with accident investigations
  • Provide in-company safety consulting services
    • Review of Safety Program
    • Facility or Job Site Inspections
    • Assist with Safety Meetings
  • Assist members with completing their OSHA 300 and 300A Logs
  • Manage annual STEP program working to achieve goals outlined in ABC IPC’s annual strategic plan
    • Promote participation, collect applications and supplemental information and track data
    • Use STEP data to advance safety programs or address members’ safety needs
  • Act as Liaison with ABC National providing members with assistance in completing the STEP applications 

Retro Program Support

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the ABC of Washington’s Retrospective Rating Program’s (Retro) Third-Party Administrator (TPA) in order to assist with member safety service needs
  • Provide Retro program members with safety services
  • Evaluate and make recommendations with regard to safety to new Retro member applications
  • Attend scheduled Retro Advisory Committee meetings

Other

  • Attend staff meetings and various trainings as directed
  • Attend and assist in meetings and events as needed
  • Attend and assist Vice President of Member Services with Workforce Development Outreach as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

Safety Professional Certification or equivalent, OSHA Outreach Instructor Certification or the ability to obtain certification, First Aid/CPR Instructor Certification or the ability to obtain certification.

Highly professional image and demeanor; excellent computer skills including proficiency at Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook; basic skills in database management including Microsoft Access;  excellent grammatical, oral and written communication skills; typing, filing and organization skills; the ability to answer telephone cheerfully and professionally, with ability to manage multi-line telephone system;  ability to operate other office equipment including copier, and fax machine.
